Acrylic Description
In "We are what We eat", Harvested vegetables replace traditional portraiture to suggest the connection between food, identity, health and community. Highlighting the connection formed through the shared labor of sustainablly grown food. Here, the carrots and leafy greens represent care, and reciprocity: The act of tending a garden becomes the way we show up for one another by sharing our gardens produce.
This piece responds directly to “Voices for Food Access” by honoring the devotion of farmers and those tending gardens. Emphasizing the everyday work that is necessary to nourishes bodies and build community.
